Build a routine.
I find myself missing the routine of getting up and leaving the house to go to work every day. It forced you to have a morning routine, or at least a morning deadline to get to work. Too often do I find myself working a full 9-5 and beyond without going through my old morning routine and working in my sweatpants. This might sound like fun to some of you, but it really messes with your mindset when you don’t treat your desk like a real job. And part of that is showering and getting yourself presentable for what the day throws at you.
Wake up and hit the ground running.
What I mean by this is that I want to stop fumbling around some mornings trying to figure out what it is I need to accomplish that day. This is a huge time waster and that momentum or lack of it can unfortunately affect the rest of your day. Each day when I’m winding down, I plan to write at least three things I need to accomplish the following day so I don’t waste valuable time or bandwidth deciding what those things are. The morning is your most productive hours of your day and they shouldn’t be wasted.
Break a sweat every day.
This is a personal goal that I feel will also positively affect my business life. Carving out time for a workout is easier said than done – especially on a daily basis. But working out has so many positive effects on your brain, on your energy levels, on your time management skills, on mindfulness, and on your general positivity and happiness. These are things I already know, but will make it a priority to put into action in 2016.
Stop wasting time.
This is something I’ve harped on before and I find myself guilty of as well. In 2016, I want to be more mindful of the little distractions and productivity killers that creep up every day. By eliminating these distractions from our workflow, we can be more focused at the task at hand and increase productivity in the time we are creating. Be selfish with your time, but be intentional with it as well. Don’t tell someone you can’t meet them for coffee because you are working and then check instagram every 20 minutes. Allow yourself to get into that FLOW state and capitalize on it.
