Howdy World
Howdy World
I recently left the world of steady paychecks, expense reports, direct deposits, 9-5s, and daily commutes and traded it in for a tall glass of HUSTLE and eat what you kill.
I AM A FULL-TIME FREELANCE DESIGNER LIVING IN DALLAS, TX.
In September, I parted ways with my collegiate apparel company, OCJ Apparel, and have since been solely focused on building up my freelance business. After turning away a few job offers that didn’t seem like the right fit, it became more clear to me that building my own design business is where I really needed to be focusing my time and energy. Another major life change happened in October when I married my amazing wife and best friend, Meg. We had a beautiful ceremony in Fort Worth, TX at the Japanese Botanic Gardens and were fortunate enough to honeymoon in Nicaragua at the incredible Jicaro Island Ecolodge (more pics to come). She has been awesome during this enormous transition in our lives and always supportive of me chasing my artistic dragon.
The life of an entrepreneur is no easy path and having your partner on board 100% is crucial to the success of your endeavors and relationship. I’ve learned a lot from running my own apparel company for 5 years, and after walking away, I am fortunate enough to have learned a lot that I can apply to new life ventures.
I turned 29 today, so that means I’ve only got one more year to do all the things I wanted to accomplish before I’m 30… I never thought one of those things would be to start a blog, but here I am. I’m hoping this blog will turn into a place where I can share the things I’ve learned along my freelancing journey, things that inspire me as a creative professional, experiences that will encourage others to “take the leap,” or at the very least provide some insight behind the curtain to anyone who is curious about graphic design or my creative process.
I’ve never blogged before in my life, so please excuse any rambling or typos, etc. If there is a specific topic you would like me to address, please feel free to drop me a line and just ask!
Let’s do this…
